It’s 2020 – Now What?

Parties, confetti, hoots and hollers make New Year’s Eve one of the most exciting holidays of the year.  New Year’s Day brings much needed, quiet relaxation, and by the second of January, we’re ready to drop back and punt with our resolutions.  The fast paced holiday season energizes our efforts to improve our future selves.  Looking back, though, allows us to take the inventory needed to make our motivation last past the settling of the confetti and throughout the year.

What were your happiest moments of 2019?  What will you do to create more of those moments on 2020?

What were your least favorite situations of 2019?  Why did they evoke negative emotions?  How can you redirect these into positive situations in 2020, or can you avoid them altogether?

What did you say “yes” and “no” to in 2019?  Did you deny too many invitations, missing out on positive opportunities?  Did you say “yes” too often, stretching yourself too thin for everyone else rather than focusing on your own preferences?

Who made you feel unhappy in 2019?  What can you learn from these relationships?

Who made you feel the happiest in 2019, and what did they do that brought you joy?  How can you make the most of these relationships in 2020?  Can you bring joy to others in this same way?

Take a moment in the car, in bed before falling asleep, or during a TV commercial break to think about these questions.  Realizing what served you in 2019 will uncover what will continue to bring you closer to your goals in 2020.
