You can try to control every element of a situation. You can check every box, do all of your homework, and prepare for every possible case scenario. You can have a carefully crafted plan A and a backup plan B. You can follow your step-by-step checklist of how to do everything right,
and things can still not go your way.
As scary as it may seem, you can’t control everything. You can do your very best and be left with nothing to show for your efforts.
Does that mean that you did a bad job, didn’t try hard enough, are being punished with bad karma, or aren’t a good person? Of course not.
Sometimes things just don’t turn out the way you hoped.
What matters most is your reaction. Do you have the ability to pivot? To adjust? To make a new plan and start again?
Your response says infinitely more than the original outcome. Get back to it!
