Charge Your Battery

I charge my phone’s battery every night. I never let my car get below a quarter of a tank. I know they can’t work right if I don’t take care of them.

I felt like garbage this week. I caught my typical January into February funk, and I worked through Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at less than 50%. I was too stubborn to let myself rest, so I kept working and going to the gym and wondering why I wasn’t getting better.

By Thursday, my body had had enough of me. I finally gave in, and I made myself take the day. I stayed in bed, and (shocker) I fell back asleep for not one, not two, not three, but FOUR hours.

When I woke up, I felt like a phone that had been plugged in all night. I had a full tank of gas, and I’ve been crushing it since. Our bodies don’t know that we have work, need to get to that family thing, promised a friend we’d see them, and really want to get to our workout class. Our bodies only know exhaustion and energy, and they can get pretty annoyed when we expect a perfect performance without giving ourselves proper care.

Here’s your reminder to charge your battery and fill up your gas tank. You’ll thank yourself later!
